Let’s face it, scum and villainy is part of Star Wars lore. And there, lurking in the shadows to benefit from the failure of others is the bounty hunter. The SWTOR Developer Blog recently gave a glimpse into how the team views this unique class, and their plans for it.
Most important to note is that there won’t be any good guy bounty hunters…at least not at first. I think this is a good move on the part of the dev team. Also, the class will not be Mandalorian-based. While there are some deep roots in the storyline, lead writer Daniel Erickson points out that not all bounty hunters were Mandalorian.
Be sure to check out the newly updated Bounty Hunter info page on the official site and watch the short videos in the combat tactics section. Yep, that’s right…twitch-action jetpacks and flamethrowers! It looks like custom high end weapons and armor are part of the plan as well.
The bitter taste of Star Wars: Galaxies
I agree with blogger Star Wars Fanboy over at Gax Online. The SWTOR forums are full of disgruntled ex-SWG players who have very high expectations of this new game. And rightfully so. BioWare will have its hands full with not only creating a new game, but one that bests SWG in every way. The good news is, that shouldn’t be too hard to do.
The Bounty Hunter class wasn’t right from the beginning in Star Wars: Galaxies. With a dev team eager to please an ever-growing Jedi population, it eventually vanished into near obscurity…much like the game’s player base. Help us, BioWare, you’re our only hope.

We are a small and humble kinship with but a handful of members, some of whom have been in the MMORPG business together for over a decade. Lately however, we have decided it’s time to add some fresh blood and reopen recruitment.
In ages past we’ve been known as The Sol Confederacy in both Earth & Beyond and Star Wars Galaxies, in Everquest II we were known as The Knights of Cratos, today we go by the name Second Breakfast Constabulary and are a family of Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves and Men.
We maintain light to moderate role-playing and heavy humor. So if you are fond of a good laugh, yet responsible enough to know where and when to stop, please contact one of us for some good in game fun. Our priority is not and has never been gear and endgame. We are not an elitist guild, but more a gathering of friends that one day go out to hunt together and another may stay pent up in our Kinship Hall, playing music and spending perhaps a little too much time at the keg.
Also worth mentioning is the fact that we are a Level 10 Kinship with a nice and fancy Kinship Hall. You can visit us at “8 Long Street, Crawdale, Bree-land Homestead”
